What: Celebrate Me Home: The NYGMC 2009 Holiday Spectacular. The concert includes tunes in English, Latin, Zulu, and Basque from genres including country (Kenny Loggins), pop (Moriah Carey, Paul Simon), spirituals, 16th century English carols, 15th century French plain song, South African folk, Basque carols, and some traditional American Christmas fare (Irving Berlin), and more. As always, they’ll be some dance numbers, surprises and plenty of good cheer.

The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) just launched a new disturbing
attack ad. This one reads, “Barack Obama’s Friends: Pro-Palestinian.
Anti-Israel. Hostile to America.”
It’s just the latest in a series of revolting, Swift Boat-style attacks from the RJC in the Jewish media in the past month.
Publications serving the Jewish community should stop running RJC
attack ads filled simply with lies and distortions. Will you sign the

Yesterday (October 12th) marked 10 years since the tragic death of Matthew Shepard, who died six days after being beaten and tied to a fence outside of Laramie, Wyoming. Barack Obama issued a statement yesterday. Could there be any doubt that a Barrack Obama presidency would give hope for greater legal protections.
“ [ W ] e pause to remember the heartbreaking and senseless murder of Matthew Shepard. A freshman at the University of Wyoming, Matthew was a young man committed to fighting for equality and changing the world around him. He was tragically taken from us far too early, an innocent victim of an abhorrent hate crime, and never had the chance to see his dreams realized.
“In the ten years since Matthew’s passing, Congress has repeatedly and unacceptably failed to enact a federal hate crimes law that would protect all LGBT Americans. That’s not just a failure to honor Matthew’s memory; it’s a failure to deliver justice for all who have been victimized by hate crimes, regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation. I’m sure you’re looking forward to tonight’s Vice Presidential debate between Senator Joe Bide and umm, you know, maverick Sarah Palin, the pit bull with lipstick. I haven’t been this excited for a television event since Michael Jackson premiered Black and White on Fox one night in the 90s.
